FUCHS will once again award EUR 50,000 to social projects in Mannheim under the motto "Helping people"

The global lubricant player FUCHS PETROLUB SE will present the FUCHS sponsorship award for the sixteenth time on October 21, 2015. A large number of worthy projects, which in particular focus on social cohesion and civil engagement in Mannheim, are to be awarded a sponsorship sum of EUR 50,000 in total. Mayor Dr. Peter Kurz will once again act as patron.
"The FUCHS sponsorship award sits at the heart of our social commitment. I would especially like to thank the many voluntary helpers, whose untiring efforts make the implementation of the social projects possible," says Stefan Fuchs, Chairman of the Executive Board of FUCHS PETROLUB.
The highest individual sum of EUR 5,000 goes to the "IMPULS" project coordinated by the "Drogenverein Mannheim" association for supporting drug users. The money is to be used to offer targeted cultural, natural and leisure activities to opiate addicts. With the "We make refugee children mobile" project, the DRK KV association in Mannheim helps refugee children to cycle safely. This project was awarded EUR 4,500. A further EUR 4,500 went to the Mannheimer Frauenhaus women's shelter for the project "Domestic violence – information brochures for deaf women in Mannheim." The project "Mentoring for 30 Werkrealschule pupils 2016" by the "ROCK YOUR LIFE!" association was supported with EUR 4,400. Here, students mentor the pupils during their last two school years in order to help them determine their professional goals. Another EUR 4,000 was awarded to the Herzogenried neighborhood management association for the project "Cultures in color – nations in peace." In this project, children from primary school and after-school care clubs are to work together to clean and decorate dirty stonework in the yard of the Käthe Kollwitz school. In its project "Culture makes us strong! Cultural education for school pupils in difficult social situations", the zeitraumexit association gets together with disadvantaged school pupils to create plays to be performed in a real theater. This project will be supported to the tune of EUR 3,600. The zeit teilen association will receive EUR 3,500 for its "Heart-throb group – dating platform for people with disabilities", which enables people with disabilities to make new friends, in particular outside their usual environment. Within the scope of the "YOU’RE WELCOME" project, the Stadtjugendring association in Mannheim offers various activities for young refugees so that they can integrate better. This project will be supported with EUR 3,000. Another EUR 3,000 will go to the project "Discover the opera with Tamino Mausewitz. A magical journey through the opera for children from three years old" organized by the TourneeOper association. This project aims to instill a passion for culture and the arts primarily into children from disadvantaged educational backgrounds. The "Soziale Jungs Mannheim" project of the Stadtjugendring Mannheim association gives Mannheim teenagers an insight into social establishments and will be sponsored with EUR 2,500. The objective of the "The little researchers – researcher's cabinet" project is to stimulate children's spirit of discovery. This project is run by the association for friends of the Elstergasse children's day care facility in Sandhofen and will be awarded EUR 1,500. A further EUR 1,500 will go to the Studenten helfen Schülern association ("Students help school pupils") for the project "Mediation for private tuition – recruiting students to work as private tutors in the new semester." The regional Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Selbsthilfegruppen ("Working group of self-help groups") organization in Mannheim will be sponsored with a sum of EUR 10,000 this year. The key aim here is to support self-help groups which tackle social isolation due to illness and stress.
In addition, Willis GmbH & Co. KG, the insurance broker of FUCHS, will once again be donating EUR 5,000. This will go to the "Meeting point National Theater" project of the association for friends and supporters of the National Theater Mannheim.
