FUCHS PETROLUB awards EUR 50,000 to social projects in Mannheim

The globally active lubricants company FUCHS PETROLUB has presented its social sponsorship award for the 15th time. With total funding of EUR 50,000 donated on October 9, 2014, children and young people, the elderly and mentally ill people in Mannheim all benefited through selected projects.

With EUR 7,000, the highest individual sum went to the "children's choir and orchestra" project. Children of all ethnic backgrounds will be able to gain basic musical knowledge and learn one or more musical instruments. The Wohnhaus Wallstadt residential home for disabled people was awarded EUR 5,200 for the "wheelchair swing" project for performing therapeutic tasks. Another EUR 5,000 was presented to the Projekt.Ausbildung students' initiative for the "application box" project, which is to facilitate the mentoring process for school pupils. EUR 5,000 was also awarded to the "self-help group for family members of children and young people addicted to computers/the internet" project of Caritas. The "neighborly help" project of the Pfingstberg school obtained EUR 4,000. Here, young people take on voluntary work, e.g. shopping for the elderly, in order to strengthen community bonds. "Elementary music education" for supporting children with cognitive, linguistic and social-emotional deficits was supported with EUR 3,200. The pro-family project "Geh nicht KO" intends to provide a source of information to protect girls and young women from sexual violence through knockout drops. The project was assisted to the tune of EUR 3,000. A further EUR 3,000 went to the"children's orchestra tour" project of the TourneeOper club, which aims to inspire children for the world of opera in a relaxed and playful atmosphere. The "addiction advice" project of the Baden-Württembergischer Landesverband für Prävention und Rehabiliation association obtained EUR 2,700. Furthermore, the Schule für kranke Menschen II school was presented with an award of EUR 2,500 for the "clinic school" project. This allows mentally ill children to be taught during their inpatient therapy. The "clown visit" project allows elderly people to enjoy clinic clowns at the Maria Frieden Pflegezentrum care home – and was supported with EUR 2,400. A further EUR 2,000 was awarded to the "Förderkreis Kinder- und Jugendpsychiatrie" support organization for children and young people for the project "Words and Raps – your own song". In keeping with the tradition of previous years, the regional consortium of self-help groups in Mannheim was awarded EUR 5,000 in sponsorship.

Willis GmbH & Co. KG, the insurance broker of FUCHS, also once again made a donation of EUR 5,000. This went to the "holiday host" project of the "Stadtjugendring" youth organization.
