Insight into chemistry: Pupils discover the world of FUCHS

On January 17, 2025, our site in Kaiserslautern opened its doors to 14 students in the 10th grade at Reichswald-Gymnasium Ramstein and their two teachers. The aim of the visit was to give the young people, who are about to choose their advanced courses, a practical insight into the world of chemistry and to support their decision.

The day began with an introduction in which the marketing team gave the students an overview of who FUCHS is, what the company does and in which business areas it is active.

The team from the development department then opened the doors to the laboratories and offered the young people an exciting and varied insight into practical work. The students were allowed to explore the laboratories, where they not only experienced the basics of development at first hand, but also learned how lubricants are put through their paces in the testing field. Another highlight was the tour through the production facility, where the processes on site were clearly explained. Finally, the young people had the opportunity to satisfy their curiosity and gain an insight into everyday working life at FUCHS during a Q&A session.

The day ended with a joint lunch before the participants were able to start their journey home refreshed and with many new impressions.

Conclusion: It was a valuable experience for the students to discover chemistry in everyday working life. Based on these insights, we were perhaps able to strengthen their decision for the advanced chemistry course. At the same time, it was a great opportunity for us to get to know potential talents - possibly even the FUCHS employees of tomorrow.
